Wingstop, a nationally celebrated franchise known for their robust menu of flavored chicken wings, is pleased to announce the grand opening of their Detroit location on Nov. 22, at the Gateway Shopping Center, 1331 E. Eight Mile Rd., Detroit, at 10:30 a.m. The Wingstop décor is traditionally aviation-themed, however, for the Detroit location the owners decided to show their commitment to the culture and people in the community with Tuskegee Airmen décor and artwork.
Owner and Detroit native John Draper stated, “We are very pleased with this location as it’s our first in Detroit. We decided to get art commissioned and put our own twist on the aviation look, to be reflective of the community we’re in. I’m very happy to be able to do this in my hometown.”
In honor of the grand opening, the first African-American military aviators in the United States armed forces, the Tuskegee Airmen (Detroit chapter), will be in attendance along with local business leaders.
Wingstop Detroit will utilize its community-focused marketing model and will be working closely with neighborhood leaders, schools and businesses in the area over the holidays and throughout the year. The Detroit location is the second of owner John Draper’s and is part of his aggressive in-state expansion plan that includes 28 locations over seven years and four to six over the next 12 months.
The Wingstop company has experienced eight consecutive years of sales increases, was named a Top 10 Best Franchise Deal by QSR magazine, and has been voted “best wings” in markets across the country.
