With the resignation of councilman Kwame Kenyatta and Gary Brown’s expected resignation, Detroit City Council has another issue to the address: vacancies. According to the city charter, council has a few options: Hold a special election; appoint a former city council member or a current candidate already running for city council. Regardless of the city council’s decision, Detroit’s Emergency manger Kevyn Orr will have the last say.
