UAW-Ford along with Clear Channel Communications (WJLB, WMXD and WWJ Newsradio 950) are teaming up to help local families who are looking for a little relief this holiday season. One thousand deserving families will receive a Thanksgiving turkey on Tuesday November 26, 2013. Families in need, especially seniors and single parent households, are welcome to pick up a complimentary turkey from any of the three area locations:

  • Dave MillerBuilding 8731 E. Jefferson Detroit, MI 6:00- 10am

  • Highland ParkFire Station 26 Gerald Street Highland Park, MI 3:00- 6:00pm

  • Soaring Eagles Ministries 18750 Swayer Detroit, MI 3:00pm- 6pm

This turkey giveaway is just one of the ways that UAW Ford is helping to strengthen the community. “At UAW Ford we have been blessed in a lot of ways, and helping to provide a Thanksgiving turkey for thousands of families in need is just one way that we are giving back in the communities where our members work and live. This is just another example of how unions and collective bargaining are so important for our country. Our members don’t just build great cars; they build strong communities,” said UAW vice president Jimmy Settles.

Over one hundred volunteers from the UAW-Ford membership will be on hand to assist with distribution of the turkeys. “I can’t think of any better way to show our gratitude to our communities then helping make Thanksgiving more enjoyable for the less fortunate,” said Ford vice president of labor relations, Marty Mulloy.

WJLB FM 98 Morning Show Mr. Chase, Coco and Foolish will broadcast live 6am- 10am from the Dave Miller Building location in Detroit. Special thanks to our community partners US Ice Trucks, in which will provide transportation and storage of the turkeys, and the Highland Park Firefighters for providing cooking demonstrations.

Nationally, UAW-Ford will be distributing 4, 100 turkeys to13 different communities in five states; Detroit, Chicago, Cleveland, Louisville, Kentucky, Lima, Ohio, Sharonville, Ohio, Kansas City, Missouri.
