‘The Swings’ Installation at Campus Martius Park Closes May 8

This will be the last weekend for Campus Martius Park visitors to come together and create music with “The Swings: An Exercise in Musical Cooperation.”   The Swings installation will close May 8 at 10 p.m. Since it opened in Detroit on April 7 as stop two of three on its U.S tour, it has had high attendance with more than 44,000 people visiting the park to experience the musical swings, including students from local schools and international visitors.
 
The Swings are a travelling, interactive public installation created by internationally renowned studio Daily tous les jours, including 10 swings that play or compose music when participants activate them. The installation is free to the public and open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
 
The Detroit 300 Conservancy, an affiliate of Downtown Detroit Partnership, brought The Swings to Detroit in partnership with Quicken Loans and with the support of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. The Swings are also made possible by Quicken Loans and Bedrock Detroit as part of their ongoing creation and support of innovative placemaking activations in Detroit,
and in cooperation with the City of Detroit Parks and Recreation Department.
