Full-service practice facility available for all ages
Father and son duo Fred and Nolan Procter are teaming up to use their talents and skills to teach the game of basketball. The Practice Zone, a full-service basketball practice facility equipped with multiple half courts is set to open Saturday, March 24. Doors will open at 10 a.m. It is located at 24164 Haggerty Road in Farmington Hills (at the corner of Haggerty and Ten-mile road).
“Perfect Practice and skill training is the key to joining the league of extraordinary players like Lebron James, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan,” said Fred Procter, proprietor and coach. “Our facility is open 363 days a year for anyone who wants to strengthen their skills in a positive and nurturing environment to maximize their potential.”
TPZ is unique because they are using state-of-the-art technology to give participants the ability to practice as an individual or as a team in several practice zones. Shooters can complete 1000 repetitions in 30 minutes at a shooting zone. Players can increase range and accuracy using regulation hoops stationed in front of ball retrieval and passing machines. TPZ offers a wide range of training sessions that condition players to have better ball handling skills, clinics and three on three leagues for men and women of all ages.
TPZ is not just centered on building great athletes on the court, but also off the court. In an effort to bring awareness to the need of recreational opportunities for athletes with disabilities, they are partnering with Dr. Jeff S. Pierce, founder of non-profit, Athletes Unlimited. During the grand opening festivities, there will be demo scrimmages featuring wheelchair basketball teams, Motor City Wheelz and the Detroit Diehards.
“Our core values are fun, passion, service, perfect practice, commitment and teamwork,” said Nolan Procter, former athlete and assistant head coach of TPZ. “It doesn’t matter which sport you play, anybody who embodies these values has the opportunity to be a great athlete.”
Memberships packages start at $40 and include interactive shooting and ball handling sessions and priority reservations. The first 75 people to sign up for the TPZ Academy package will receive a $10 discount. Packages can be adjusted to serve the member’s needs. For those who aren’t interested in a membership, TPZ offers individual training, half court practice for teams, and reservations for special events.
