Springboard Tracks, a boutique music licensing and publishing company focused on genres that are often poorly represented or over-commercialized in the world of production music, presents TRANSMIT+ – a conference that brings together artists, entrepreneurs and creatives to build experiences and drive Detroit’s future – taking place the weekend of August 28 – 29, 2015. Tickets can be purchased at www.wantickets.com/transmitdetroit and, in support of Detroit’s emerging music artists, Springboard Tracks will hold a limited number of FREE tickets to attend the weekend’s festivities using the code “SPRINGBOARD”. Students can register to attend FREE using code “DETROITSTUDENT” and must present valid (non-expired) student ID for entry.For two days, this diverse community will gather for conversation, music, parties, and art experiences. Together, attendees will shape an emerging conversation about art, music and business in Detroit. The conference and performances will be held at the prestigious Detroit Institute of Music Education (DIME) with support from our partners including the Detroit Free Press, Ponyride, Our/Detroit and more TBA.
The TRANSMIT+ conference in Detroit will feature a curated daytime panel series with participation by nationally and regionally celebrated leaders in arts and entertainment discussing topics to include $$GET PAID$$: Making Money from Your Music; ALL F***ED UP!: State of the Music Industry; BE HEARD: Breaking Through all the Noise; and ART WERD:Business and Art of Self Promotion, among others. Named “the ones to watch” by the 2014 CMJ Festival as one half of the much celebrated DJ duo Normaling, .rar Kelly is a Baltimore-based DJ credited with bringing Baltimore’s club sound to a national and international audience through the formation of Space is the Place Records and organizing the promotion of community artists in high profile media and performance opportunities.
11PM – 12AM: Shady P
Shady P is a young Detroiter with a bright future that spans beyond just the norms of house and techno. With releases on Breed Record, Magnitizdat Tapes, and How To Kill Records, Shady P’s “sludge house” sound is redefining the way dance music audiences think about the pillar genres like House and Techno. With a commitment to pushing the most complete and faithful projects, great things are to come for this Detroit native.
12 – 1AM: Sinistarr
Sinistarr is one of the leaders of the dance music new school, a triple-threat as a DJ/Producer/serial Remixer who’s as well known for his forward-thinking beats as he is for nightclub domination. This versatile Detroit native has released on some of the biggest drum and bass labels in the world including Goldie’s Metalheadz imprint, Doc Scott’s 31 Recordings, Hospital Records, Architecture Recordings and Renegade Hardware. Recently though, the man’s been everywhere, applying his signature style to diverse sounds like footwork, techno and house with releases and remixes on SMOG, Tectonic, Human Elements, Seclusiasis, Juke Trax, and Loose Squares that show him moving beyond dance music conventions and constantly reaching out to a new audience – and publications like URB, Vibe, Resident Advisor and Complex Magazine are taking note– Sinistarr is out in front.
1 – 2AM: Superdre
With a multi-genre musician approach as a producer, Dre brings a uniquely innovative style to her music that retains a soul rarely found in the electronic music scene today. Sponsored by Native Instruments, Dre’s skills were featured in the Technical Genesis series, a ten volume showcase of her ability to effortlessly create a unique mix of minimal techno, electro and retro. Her appearances and accolades also include independent films, holding down the popular “AFTER Club 104.5,” on Grand Rapids’ largest radio station, 104.5 WSNX, as well as in 2009 being voted the area’s “DJ of the Year” and one of the “Top 10 Most Influential” electronic artists to come out of the Detroit region. Serving up her distinctive brand across multiple musical genres, demos and venues, Dre has shared stages with hip-hop acts like Slum Village, The Cool Kids and D12, as well as heavyweight DJs/Producers such as DJ Irene, Bassnectar, and Ana Sia.
