Spaulding For Children and Celebrities Kick-Off Foster Care Month With Showcase

SOUTHFIELD, Michigan- Spaulding for Children, a non-profit child welfare agency, is kicking-off National Foster Care Month by hosting a Celebrity Showcase on April 25, 2014 at Bert’s Entertainment Complex located in the Historic Eastern Market. Headlining the Showcase is Howard Hewett, solo artist and former lead singer of Shalamar. Also performing will be R & B group Silk, and Chris Hayzel, a Los Angeles based musician whose loop infused and funk/soul injected live show wow’s listeners all over the globe. A homegrown band, Late Nights, Early Mornings will perform in the VIP Lounge.
Addie Williams, President and CEO of Spaulding for Children is excited to be able to host a night of entertainment that will serve as a party with a purpose in Detroit. “Spaulding has teamed with Howard Hewett, Silk, and Chris Hazel to raise funds to support foster children. With a mission of ensuring that every child that needs one; has a safe permanent family, we are hoping to raise funds to make sure our children have successful lives and grow into productive adults.” she says about the goal of the concert. She went on to say, “The funds raised will go toward college tuition, trade schools, or any other institution of higher learning, tutoring, college tours, clothing, instruments or any other items that children and youth typically need. We are asking for your help in making this foster care month celebration a successful one.”
Veteran crooner Howard Hewett is honored to be the headliner for such a worthy cause. When asked about his involvement he said “I’m honored to be working with the Spaulding for Children Organization. I’ve always been an advocate for children. I believe that the future and the strength of any country lie directly with the education and the stability of its children. A safe and stable home is essential for that type of positive development and that has been Spaulding for Children’s mission since 1968. To assist in any way to help raise funds for such an awesome, necessary organization is an honor. I’m looking forward to the many years of service. God bless.”
There are table sponsorships available as well as, VIP ($100) and General ($50) tickets for the event. Spaulding for Children is a private, non-profit child welfare agency, since 1968, that finds permanent homes for children that are in the foster care and adoption system. Spaulding was one of the first agencies that specialized in finding and training adoptive families for the placement of children who had been abused, neglected and/or had other individual challenges.
