RENEE WALKER & ASSOCIATES: Transforming brands … engineering success

Renee-Walker-Headshot-2016FSince its inception four years ago, RENEE WALKER & ASSOCIATES (RW&A) has positively changed the communication and branding landscape as it relates to helping organizations grow in all facets of business.  Under the leadership of Renee Walker, founder and president, RW&A has mastered a proven four-step strategic process that has been effective in rendering tailored solutions to maximize overall performances of clients.  The four-steps perfected by Walker and her company are identification and discovery, strategy formation, implementation and endorsement, and evaluation and metrics.

As a full-service strategy and communication entity, RW&A’s core services include branding, traditional marketing, digital marketing, business strategy, and client acquisition.  Services also include creating and producing broadcast-ready TV commercials.  The company’s portfolio includes clients in an array of industries, such as business, healthcare, higher education, energy, nonprofits, retail, trade associations and more.

While the company recently celebrated its fourth anniversary, Walker knows what’s been accomplished in more than a one-person show.

“I’m very proud of my incredibly creative and talented team of strategists that helps support our clients,” said Walker, who uses a ‘distributed workforce model’ for matching strategists with various projects.   “We’ve been very successful at helping companies accelerate their growth.”

Walker is also proud that RW&A was selected to Cohort Six of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program.  The prestigious 16-week program, which spanned Nov. 2015 to March, 2016, taught RW&A and other selected small business across the United States valuable business lessons, while  providing vast resources necessary to grow and create jobs.

“It was phenomenal,” Walker exclaimed   “The program afforded us an opportunity to not only recognize the power of having a network of similar minded entrepreneurs, it really helped us focus on being better at managing the business.  The program gave us an opportunity to develop a growth plan that we are currently implementing.”

RW&A recently launched “Ensightium.”  Walker describes “Ensightium” as a new multichannel platform created and designed for growth-minded small businesses owners and serious entrepreneurs.  The new venture currently features two RW&A produced podcasts:  “Everything You Need to Know About Successful Branding” and “Unlocking Competitive Advantages for Faster Growth.”  Blogs and interviews on growing and branding businesses will soon be unveiled as other components of “Ensightium.”

As founder and president of RW&A, Walker is living a dream she’s had long before graduating from Detroit’s Cass Technical High School.  “I knew very early in my life that I wanted to be an entrepreneur,” she said.

Interestingly, her dream of ownership would be three-decades in the makings.  However, perseverance was, and still is, one of Walker’s many strong attributes.  On her long journey to entrepreneurship, she would hold such positions as chief communications officer and associate vice president of university communications at Central Michigan University, manager of corporate public relations for Kelly Services, and executive assistant to former Detroit Mayor Dennis W. Archer.  While serving under Archer, Walker planned high-profile conferences, oversaw visits from national and international officials and other dignitaries.  She also created the City’s first protocol office.

While embarked in various professional positions, Walkers earned a bachelor’s degree in organization administration from Central Michigan, and an MBA in marketing from Davenport University.

As a MMBDC-Certified Minority Business Enterprise and WBENC-Certified Women’s Business Enterprise, Walker, either independently or in conjunction with RW&A, is ready to help others succeed as business owners, especially women of color.  Her efforts to empower others in the community and in business endeavors caught the attention of the Michigan Chronicle, which included her as one of its 2014 “Women of Excellence” honorees.

While busy, Walker has found time to author her first book, “Brand Power for Small Business Entrepreneurs.”  The book explains the importance of strong branding which can separate and elevate a respective company from respective competitors.  Additionally, Walker is accredited in public relations (APR by the Public Relations Society of America.

Walkers’ advice to others who may be thinking about becoming entrepreneurs.

“Be purposeful, strategic, and believe in yourself,” said Walker, a much sought-after speakers on branding and other business-growing topics. “And remember, your brand is everything: it can make or break you.  Make sure that people are clear on what you are doing in business.  Don’t be afraid to ask for help, and don’t be afraid to go out there and live your dream as an entrepreneur.”
