Detroit is about to be tickled pink this summer! Warner Bros. Pictures is partnering with Downtown Detroit Partnership to give Campus Martius Park a Barbie-style makeover for a grandiose beach party — and it’s all free! This pink-tastic event on Thursday, July 13th, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., is gearing up the excitement for the big-screen debut of “Barbie,” set to hit theaters on July 21st.
This isn’t your average beach bash! Imagine stepping into Barbie’s world — a life-size Barbie box for your photo ops, sipping on a ‘Pink Dream’ cocktail beachside at BrisaBar, and nibbling on cotton candy hand-spun from Spun Sugar Detroit. We’re talking coconut rum, orange and cranberry juices, a hint of pineapple, and a sweet splash of grenadine all nestled in a sugar-rimmed glass. It’s a beach party with an urban twist!
It’s time to show up and show out in your best Barbie pink attire. The stakes? Winning VIP seats to an advance screening of the long-awaited “Barbie” movie. Plus, there’ll be plenty of “Barbie”-themed giveaways to take home.
But, of course, what’s a beach party without some jamming music? Detroit-based DJ Thornstryker and Mami Wata will set the mood, part of Downtown Detroit Partnership’s Beach Party series, offering free entertainment every Thursday throughout the summer.
So, Barbie lovers, mark your calendars and prep your pink outfits. Campus Martius Park, located at 800 Woodward Ave., will be our Barbie Land for one day. Embrace the excitement, immerse in the vibe, and remember, life in plastic—it’s fantastic!
