- Saturday workshop will engage residents to develop street redesign concepts
The City of Detroit is alerting motorists that it will be conducting a pilot project this weekend to study the feasibility of creating protected bicycle lanes on Livernois.
Beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 22, Livernois will be reduced to one travel lane in each direction between Florence and Grove Streets. For the pilot, the city will install temporary bike lanes, a temporary mid-block crosswalk, and alterations to the parking lane.
All lanes will reopen on Monday, April 25 at 7:00 PM.
The closure is being done as part of a collaboration between the city’s Planning Department, Detroit Collaborative Design Center, the Live6 Alliance, University Commons, Knight Foundation and the Better Block Foundation, to make Livernois more bike and pedestrian friendly.
