Kaniqua Daniel-Welch, a Pontiac native, has worked in media relations for more than a decade. As Program Supervisor of Media and New Media for Detroit Public Schools, Kaniqua manages press conferences and district events, gaining local and national media coverage; social media and website content; coordinates community partnerships; and executes public relations and marketing campaigns.
Fulfilling a passion to impact students, Kaniqua is also a lecturer at Oakland University teaching journalism courses.
A former reporter with The Oakland Press, Kaniqua began her journalism career covering Pontiac City Government. She then transitioned to public relations and marketing with McLaren Oakland Medical Center to manage hospital publications, media relations, and assist with coordinating fundraising events to support programs for Oakland County residents.
An avid volunteer, Kaniqua has served on several community boards, gaining recognition by Gov. Rick Snyder during the MSAE Legislative Conference as a young professional making a positive difference.
Kaniqua holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Oakland University and a master’s degree in public relations from Wayne State University. She is married to Stefen Welch and resides in Detroit.
