Sweet Potato Sensations/Naturally FLYY Detroit

Sisters, Charice “Espy” and Jennifer Thomas can be described as complementing flavors. Affectionately known as “The Sista’s” born and raised in Detroit they grew up working in their family business, Sweet Potato Sensations. Espy, a graduate of The Savannah College of Art and Design and Jennifer, a graduate of Ohio University, both returned home years after college to begin working in the family business. The sisters have brought a creative new energy to the business with Espy heading up all things creative, i.e, social media, marketing, branding and sales, and Jennifer making the top secret recipes for all their sweet potato treats.
In 2010, the sisters launched Naturally FLYY Detroit, a movement dedicated to encouraging women to be who they are naturally, starting with their hair. The 1st Naturally FLYY Detroit meet-up was actually held in the Sweet Potato Sensations kitchen and almost 5 years later Naturally FLYY has become Detroit’s largest Natural Hair Movement, hosting well over 800+ women at their bi-annual natural hair meet-ups.
Espy has recently become a proud graduate of The Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Business Program and the sisters also received The ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award in 2012.
They are unapologetically themselves, changing the image of business.
