“We’re proud to support such a wonderful event that is important to the community and showcases youth in their pursuit of music and the arts,” said McDonald’s Vice President and General Manager Michigan Region, Marcos Quesada.
COMPÁS, a program of the Southwest Detroit Business Association (SDBA), provides year-round, youth focused arts, recreation and educational opportunities. Its professional quality dance studio and renovated facility enables COMPÁS to offer lessons in various genres of dance, instrumental music and art with a focus on the diverse Latino heritage of Southwest Detroit.
The annual youth recital and year-end celebration will feature more than 80 performers and includes an awards ceremony with certificates of accomplishment for students and staff. Instrumental music performances will include guitar, and drums and percussions. Dance performances will include pre-dance, pre-ballet, ballet, flamenco, tap, hip-hop, breakdance, belly dance, and Mexican folk (ballet folklórico).
“We are so very grateful to McDonald’s for its generous support of COMPÁS and its mission to provide meaningful arts education in our community,” said SDBA President Kathy Wendler. “The annual year-end youth recital attracts hundreds of attendees who join us to celebrate the diverse and exceptional talents of our students.”
