Lifestyles Report …And then…

Each week I think about what I want to write about, and then something happens and I get sidetracked. Since the presidential election I have wondered about Omarosa and why her good friend Donald Trump has yet to give her a position in the White House.
Omorosa

After all, Omarosa actually worked for Al Gore during the Clinton Administration, so she has a little White House experience. Now that she has completed her role as director of African American Outreach, what is she going to do next Donald? Perhaps another reality show? I wonder if she will be invited to the Inauguration. She is probably planning her outfit now.

I also wanted to let you know about something I heard when I went to the event that said you could wear only 33 items in 30 days. During that event, I learned a good tip from Kia Tomlin that I wanted to share with you before Christmas. Tomlin says each year this is what she and Coach Mike Tomlin buy for her children: something they want, something they need, something to wear and something to read. I love this!!! She says her kids have not complained since this was introduced in their household. I think more parents should do this. I especially like the last one––something to read.

Recently, there have been some demonstrations about the amount of minimum wage. Reportedly, about a week ago, some fast food workers walked off the job and demands included a minimum wage of $15 an hour. When I heard this,  I remembered the pitiful service I had received from a particular fast food restaurant––the McDonalds in East Liberty, near the police station. I must say it was the worst service I had ever received. While I was in the drive thru I was forced to watch and listen to this group of younger people talk about their evening out. The language was awful and they were totally unprofessional. They had no interest in my order and it ended up being incorrect. After that encounter I saw several friends on Facebook complain about the same restaurant; we all agreed to write a letter to the corporate office, and then I got busy and forgot.
And then last week, I sent a friend to pick up my favorite fast food salad, the apple pecan chicken salad at Wendy’s. I always expect this salad to be correct. I think that the salad portion comes in pre-made and I know that what goes in the salad is written down somewhere in that restaurant. It is to have apples, blue cheese, pecans and it comes with raspberry vingerette dressing. When my friend got to my house with the salad,  the pecans, blue cheese and the raspberry dressing were missing. Thank goodness the Wendy’s is close by and he went back. I have often had the same problem with my order there. This is not rocket science. How do you get this wrong? Bottom line: you do not deserve $15 an hour until you do better.
