Interfaith Program commemorates 50th anniversary of death of Dr. King

 (Detroit, MI—April 3, 2018) Representatives of Detroit’s interfaith community will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Greater New Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church (greaternewmtmoriah.org) in Detroit.
At 6:57 p.m., the last three minutes of Dr. King’s final speech will be broadcast at the church, followed by the ringing of 39 bells representing Dr. King’s age at the time of his assassination. The program will include musical selections and comments from these
Detroit-area interfaith leaders:

       There is no charge for this commemoration, which is open to the public and news media. Light refreshments will be served after the program, which is presented by Greater New Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church and the InterFaith Leadership Council of Metropolitan Detroit.  The church is located at 586 Owen Street in Detroit’s North End neighborhood.
