The ceremony will be broadcast live on our website starting at 8:39 a.m.
Museum Open for Families, First Responders
The museum will remain open to victims’ families from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday and to first responders from 12:30 to 9 p.m.
Plaza Open Until Midnight
Starting at 6 p.m. on Sept. 11, the memorial’s annual Tribute in Light will illuminate the New York City skyline, serving as a way to remember the attacks and honor the nearly 3,000 victims who died that day.
For the first time in the institution’s history, the memorial will remain open until midnight on to the anniversary, and the Tribute in Light will sit just south of the site. The memorial plaza will be closed to the public for most of the day on Sept. 11 as the commemoration takes place.
Reaching four miles high, the Tribute in Light first began in March 2002, six months after the attacks. It has since become a 9/11 anniversary tradition. Click here for more information.
