Greektown Casino-Hotel will soon be called a new name after Penn National Gaming, Inc. announced today that the 100,000-square-foot gaming, entertainment and dining destination and 30-story hotel will be renamed soon.
The Detroit hotel is expected to be renamed Hollywood Casino at Greektown on Sunday, May, subject to customary regulatory approvals. The former Greektown Casino-Hotel’s rebranding journey, under the Company’s flagship Hollywood Casino banner, goes beyond a new name, bringing several changes and additions to the look, feel and experience of the property.
“Becoming Hollywood Casino at Greektown will offer our guests the best of both worlds: we’re keeping all of the unique, neighborhood charm that has defined Greektown since we opened our doors, while adding several new amenities that come with being a part of Penn National’s flagship brand family,” said John Drake, general manager of Hollywood Casino at Greektown. “Whether you’re a regular, loyal guest or a first-time visitor, we’ll have something new and improved for you to experience and enjoy.”
To celebrate its rebranding, Hollywood Casino at Greektown will host red-carpet themed private VIP and community special events on Thursday, May 19th from 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Saturday, May 21st from 6 p.m. – 11 p.m. The events will include entertainment, refreshments, and chances to win luxury cruises, trips to Las Vegas, a Mercedes-Benz lease and free slot play for all mychoice® rewards program guests. In addition, the new Hollywood Casino at Greektown will make a $10,000 charitable contribution to the Greektown Neighborhood Partnership. Additional highlights of the rebranding of Greektown Casino-Hotel to Hollywood Casino at Greektown include:
New Look & Feel
The newly minted Hollywood Casino at Greektown is prepared to welcome overnight guests with a recently unveiled $30 million renovation of its 1,200 square foot hotel lobby, complete with new intimate lobby cocktail bar and a total redesign of all 400 of its guestrooms and suites, which is expected to be completed in the coming months.
All of the property’s carpets, hallways, elevator vestibules and other common areas have received a floor-to-ceiling refresh, and the facility has further underscored guest comfort and safety with the implementation of a new best-in-class HVAC system.
New Food & Beverage
Beyond the just-opened lobby cocktail bar, Hollywood Casino at Greektown will be home to several other new food and beverage offerings, including Urban Cocktail and Rock Bar lounges and a new, upscale Dunkin’ concept in the hotel lobby. The current casual and to-go dining options the Monroe Market food hall will include a new Detroit Taco Company location. Diners will also find a new menu awaiting them at the property’s premier steakhouse, Prism, created under the direction of Chef Petro Drakopoulos, who was recently named executive chef of the casino and hotel’s food and beverage operations. These upgrades are addition to the recently debuted Barstool Sportsbook, which is open every day of the week for dining and cocktails and includes a weekend Barstool Brunch.
New Technology
Gaming and parking at the new Hollywood Casino at Greektown will be even easier and safer, thanks to some exclusive technology upgrades to both systems.
The property will be the first casino in Michigan to offer a new cashless, cardless feature – mywallet – within its mobile mychoice rewards app that allows guests to connect to slot machines and table games with their phone. The Bluetooth-connected technology allows guests to add funds, collect winnings, earn tier points and more, all through the convenience of their personal mobile device, without the need to carry cards or cash. Players will still have the option to use traditional options while playing their favorite games.
The Company has also invested over $1M in approvements to the casino’s self-park and VIP parking garages. The VIP Garage is a newly-remodeled 700+ space garage with no public access. This garage is dedicated solely for the casino’s higher-tier level players and is connected directly to the upper-level gaming floor. VIP guests will still have the option to self-park or valet in the garage. The garage technology also features player card integration, moving walkways and a state-of-the-art license plate recognition system, which will allow for seamless entry and exit.
New Entertainment
For the 2022-2023 season, Hollywood Casino at Greektown has extended its partnership agreement with the Detroit Music Hall, together welcoming award-winning artists for a variety of live musical and comedy performances. Detroit audiences can look forward to shows featuring Michael Bolton, Wanda Sykes, Boyz II Men, Jim Brewer, America and more in 2022. “Hollywood is coming to Detroit, and we’re ready to roll out the red carpet for our visitors and guests,” said Drake. “Its Tinsel Town meets Greektown.”
