THE GROUP’S popular albums included “The Dramatic Jackpot,” “Drama V,” “Do What You Wanna Do,” “Joy Ride,” “Whatcha See Is Whatcha Get,” “Shake It Well” and “A Dramatic Experience.”
Another outstanding ’70s hit by the Dramatics was the lovely “Ocean of Thoughts and Dreams” which, interestingly, became the foundation (same music, different lyrics) for Destiny’s Child’s 2005 hit, “Girl,” featured on their final album as a trio, “Destiny Fulfilled.”
The Dramatics’ last Top 10 hit was “Welcome Back Home,” a 1980 release.
Since 1974, numerous hits collections have been released.
L.J. Reynolds and Willie Ford still sing with the Dramatics. Larry Demps left show business in 1980. William “Wee Gee” Howard died in 2000, Lenny Mayes in 2004 and Elbert Wilkins in 1992.
Ron Banks’ brother, Bryan, was a member of Five Special, the group best remembered for the 1979 Top 10 hit “Why Leave Us Alone.”
Banks is survived by his wife, Sandra, two sons and four daughters.

SERVICES:
On Saturday, March 13, services for Ron Banks will take place at Greater Grace Temple, 23500 W. Seven Mile Rd., starting at 11 a.m. The family hour will begin at 10 a.m.
Viewing will be on Friday, March 12, 10 a.m.-9 p.m., at the Swanson Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 14751 W. McNichols.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Ron Banks Foundation, via Michigan First Credit Union, 27000 Evergreen, Lathrup Village, MI 48076-3231.
