Starting this fall, downtown Detroit is about to experience cinema like never before — not just with your eyes, but with your taste buds, your nose and your spirit. Thanks to a new partnership between Cambria Detroit Downtown and the immersive culinary creators behind Fork n’ Film, Michigan is getting its first taste of a multi-sensory experience that transforms iconic films into edible art.
Held inside Cambria’s stylish Balla Ultra Lounge, the cinematic dining series kicks off with the perfect palate-pleaser: Disney Pixar’s “Ratatouille.” Guests will follow Remy the rat’s flavorful Parisian adventure not from a theater seat, but from an elegant table where each course is timed to the film’s most mouthwatering moments.
“We’re thrilled to be bringing Fork n’ Film to Michigan for the first time,” said Nicole Miller, general manager at Cambria Detroit Downtown. “Cambria is about delivering elevated, memorable experiences to our guests, and this series perfectly reflects that. It’s immersive, imaginative and uniquely Detroit.”
While Cambria may be known as a premier downtown hotel, this initiative is about more than plush beds and skyline views. Christopher Kouza, co-owner of Cambria Detroit, said: “Our vision has always been to create a destination that offers more than just a place to stay. Fork n’ Film is the perfect addition to our amenities. It turns an evening out into a memory that lingers long after the last bite.”
The concept behind Fork n’ Film is simple yet deeply intentional: curated films paired with multi-course, chef-driven menus and specially designed cocktails and mocktails, all timed to cinematic cues that ignite every sense. As Francesca Dunca, co-CEO at Fork n’ Film, puts it: “‘Ratatouille’ is the perfect kickoff — a celebration of food, passion and storytelling. Our goal is to blur the line between the screen and the plate, so the audience doesn’t just watch the movie. They taste it.”
Here’s what to expect:
-
A limited-capacity event (only 40 guests per night) designed to preserve the magic and intimacy of the experience.
-
A welcome champagne toast and freshly popped popcorn to start the evening.
-
A meticulously timed multi-course gourmet meal, with vegetarian options available.
-
Handcrafted cocktails and mocktails, each choreographed to moments in the film.
The inaugural event launches Friday, Sept. 12, and if you’re lucky enough to snag a seat, it promises to be a feast not just for the stomach, but for the soul. The series will continue with additional classic films, including holiday programming, to be announced in the coming weeks.
Reservations are required and tickets can be purchased at www.Detroit.ForknFilm.com.
