FILM // PLAY Detroit: A One Night Stand With Screen and Stage

The Film/Play festival is an event not to just present local projects, but to create a forum for ALL artists to meet and build relationships with fellow artists in the city. Film // Play Detroit showcases new, made-in-Detroit works for stage and screen for a one-of-a kind mash-up of film and theater. It’s a crossover that invites audience members to see the similarities and differences between two artistic forms in the cabaret-like setting of the Elizabeth Theater. Film//Play takes place on December 11, 2014 starting at 6:00 p.m.. The evening features short films by noted Detroit filmmakers, Anton Bassey, Myron Watkins and Hayward Crawford, plus scenes from an original play by Aaron Timlin and live musical interludes. A panel discussion will give aspiring local actors, writers and directors a chance to engage with successful local professionals, and learn what it takes to break into the Detroit’s burgeoning theater and film scene. Panelists include Mike McGettigan (actor/director/improv), Henri Franklin (actor/director/instructor), Molly McMahon (actor/director), Anton Bassey (actor/curator) and Marshalle Montgomery (curator).  Film Play Detroit provides a networking and knowledge sharing experience in the cozy surroundings of The Elizabeth Theatre, directly above The Park Bar.
