Fashion Industry Mourns Detroit Designer Mark England

Detroit, MI – Saturday afternoon January 18, 2014 at 2pm our dear friend got his well-deserved wings and went home to rest. Mark England Designer and one of Detroit’s prominent businessmen, while with a caretaker at his home in Downtown Detroit, experienced trouble breathing. 911 were called and as the medical emergency team spent over an hour attempting to revive England, they were unsuccessful in obtaining a positive response. England was then rushed to Detroit Receiving Hospital where doctors continued to work on him; they were yet unsuccessful in their attempt. He was pronounced dead at 4:15pm.
England was first diagnosed with lymphoma in December of 2012 and after receiving an “all clear” from doctors the following June, it was back to creating. Unfortunately, cancer left its mark. England endured a stroke early last week, which led to his succumbing to a brain aneurism.
England fought bravely for his life and a better quality-of-life for others partnering with the Barbara Anne Karmanos Cancer Institute to host Fashion Fights Cancer, a fashion show at the Detroit Opera House. England’s show raised monies for research and patient support programs at Karmanos Cancer Institute. Fashion Fights Cancer also introduced his latest designs in the Mark England Collection.
The world of fashion in Detroit will never be quite the same! However, as the news spreads across the country and world, he is being referred to as “The Bridge”. England brought so many people together from young aspiring designers and models who interned at the multiple retail spaces in downtown Detroit, to the many national and international celebs who counted, trusted and depended on England’s impeccable approach to fashion around the world. England’s legacy will go on forever and the City of Detroit will shine a little brighter because Mark England one day decided to share his talents and visions with this great city.
