Embrace Sportz Annual Youth Track Meet will Draw More Than 1,000 Metro Detroit Athletes This Weekend

Embrace Sportz announces the return of the 4th Annual Embrace Sportz Relays, taking place on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at John Glenn High School in Westland from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This year’s event will bring together more than 1,000 youth athletes from over 30 teams and schools across Metro Detroit, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, New York City, Columbus (OH), and Indiana for a one-of-a-kind track and field experience.

Founded by twin brothers and former Michigan State University track athletes Shaka and Menachem Dukes, Embrace Sportz was created to give young people the opportunity to grow through sports, build lasting friendships, and experience the joy of competition in a supportive, community-centered environment.

“This event is about more than running, it’s about mindset,” said Shaka Dukes. “We want every kid to leave this event feeling stronger, more confident, and more connected to who they are and what they can achieve. And just as important, we want families to feel like they’re part of something special; celebrating their kids and cheering each other on.”

From thrilling races to dynamic co-ed relays where boys and girls compete side-by-side, the Embrace Sportz Relays offer young athletes a rare chance to experience elite-level energy at a youth-centered meet. Off the track, families can enjoy Round 1 Gaming Truck, Luxury Strike Mobile Bowling Truck, music, concessions and more, turning the day into a full-on celebration of community and togetherness.

“We created this to be a space where kids thrive and families come together,” said Menachem Dukes. “There’s something powerful about watching a child give their all on the track, surrounded by a community that’s lifting them up. That’s what makes this day so fulfilling for them and for us.”

Admission: $20 per athlete | $10 for spectators | Kids enter free
Location: John Glenn High School – 36105 Marquette St, Westland, MI 48185
