Emagine Entertainment, Inc., an innovator in luxury theatres, proudly announces the Juneteenth Film Festival to benefit the UNCF (United Negro College Fund). The film festival will begin Friday, June 19th with all of net ticket proceeds benefiting UNCF. The film festival will run for a minimum of one week. Tickets will cost $10.00 with all net ticket proceeds going to the UNCF. The complete list of movies, showtimes, and ticket sales for the Juneteenth Film Festival will be available on Emagine’s website shortly. Emagine Royal Oak is located at 200 N. Juneteenth is a US holiday celebrated on June 19th that recognizes the end of slavery and celebrates the culture and achievements of African Americans. The Juneteenth Film Festival will feature films that honor black actors/actresses, writers, directors, and filmmakers as well as showcasing films that present compelling moral stories and educate on racism and black history. Some of the featured films will include DO THE RIGHT THING (Universal), IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK (UA Releasing), I AM NOT YOUR NEGRO (Magnolia), and THE COLOR PURPLE (WB). A full list of films will be announced in the coming days. Emagine Royal Oak will be open exclusively for the Juneteenth Film Festival, and all films and showtimes will be dedicated to supporting this messaging.

For 76 years, UNCF has empowered more than half a million students to earn college degrees. As the largest and most effective minority education organization in the United States, UNCF also actively supports 37 private HBCUs and advocates for minority higher education. To that end, on Saturday, Aug. 22, UNCF will host also its 32nd Annual Detroit Walk for Education—newly minted as a virtual—a community fundraising event open to the public. The UNCF Detroit Virtual Walk for Education will feature walking, exercising and dance to help raising funds for deserving students and HBCUs.
In preparation for opening, Emagine Royal Oak underwent a thorough cleaning and disinfecting program and instituted a variety of protocols to ensure the cleanliness of the venue for employees and guests, as well as new social distancing procedures. Emagine has taken great measures to ensure a clean and comfortable movie-going experience for its guests. The health of its employees and its movie-goers is a top priority for Emagine, and accordingly, that goal was the underpinning in developing its guidelines.
