
Design Core Detroit will kick-off its inaugural Commerce Design Competition at the May 10th Drinks x Design in the Grandmont Rosedale neighborhood. Be the first to hear a special announcement about the competition at 6:30pm in the GRANDpark(let) and join us in celebrating the role of design in strengthening community businesses with a design crawl featuring:
The GRANDpark(let): A temporary installation that will transform an under-utilized road space at the intersection of Grand River and Puritan/Plainview into a pedestrianized plaza. The GRANDpark(let) is collaboration between the City of Detroit Planning & Development Department, Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation, Project 561and Cranbrook Architecture Students.
Cutz Lounge The Grooming Shop: A multi-faceted facility that houses a barber shop and community event space. Enjoy music, fun and affordable beer + wine while viewing projects by the Detroit Economic Growth Corporation and Tech Town.
Grandmont Rosedale Development Corporation: A non-profit, community-based organization working to preserve and improve the Grandmont Rosedale Neighborhoods. View work by Unsold Studios and experience Design Center in a Box, a Knight Cities Challenge grant awarded project.
Pages Bookshop: A neighborhood retailer that offers a curated selection of fiction, nonfiction, and children’s literature. Visit during DxD to view Design Core’s new book, “Design Guide for Neighborhood Businesses.”
Grand River Annex + Norwest Gallery of Art: A community space dedicated to contemporary art with a focus on African and African-American culture. AIA Detroit will present a special edition of PechaKucha Night focused on Neighborhood Impact.
