Detroit-Windsor Tunnel To Close Saturday To Nonessential Traffic

The Detroit-Windsor Tunnel announced today that it will close for nonessential cars and trucks, effective 12:01 a.m. Saturday, March 21.

Trade and those workers deemed “essential” and with required documentation will not be affected, and the tunnel will remain open for their use.

Meanwhile, two other changes are being implemented as part of the effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19):

The Detroit-Windsor Tunnel will continue to keep the news media updated as details emerge about the duration of the travel restrictions.

As a reminder, the tunnel will be closing overnight tonight, March 19, from 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. for work tied to the tunnel’s ongoing $22 million renovation project. This closure is not related to the coronavirus.

Travelers can get real-time updates and traffic information online at www.dwtunnel.com or on Twitter @DetWinTunnel.
