Also in the middle of the decade Detroit had a four-year run hosting the Detroit Football Classic at Ford Field, highlight two HBCU teams, as well as the Historically Black College bands.
Having attended each event, I can truly say the events’ organizers and the thousands of volunteers left our international and national visitors with a positive feeling about Detroit and its people.
In spite of Detroit’s obvious problems, it has shown over this past decade that it can play with the big boys and produce major sporting events with class and cohesiveness as well as any city.
