Detroit neighborhood shopping deals for District 1 Discount Days event

Residents in Northwest Detroit will again have an opportunity to receive great deals at more than 60 small businesses within city council District 1 (D1) as Detroit City Council Member James E. Tate, Jr. presents the 2^nd Annual D1 Discount Days. Special D1 discount offers will be available for customers from July 24th through July 26^th. Business participating in D1 Discount Days find the event a creative and convenient way to a way of showing appreciation to their loyal patrons as well as an incentive to encourage potential customers to shop in their neighborhoods.

Participating businesses this year include award winning establishments such as Sweet Potato Sensations and the Historic Redford Theater.

“Nothing beats the convenience of being able to shop within your own neighborhood. I strongly believe in highlighting small businesses, many of which have struggled at times while riding the nation’s economic roller-coaster along with the rest of us,” said Councilman Tate. “It is important that we shop local and support Detroit small businesses because it increases the chance of those dollars circulating within our own community.”

D1 Discount Days is a proven winner and consistently seeks to expand based on the needs of the consumer. The more than 60 businesses participating in this year’s effort dwarfs the number of 22 businesses that took part in 2014.
