Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW) is competing for national recognition in USA Today’s 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards. The airport has been nominated in three categories: Best Large Airport, Best Airport for Shopping, and Best Airport for Dining. In addition, Leo’s Coney Island, located in the McNamara Terminal, is nominated for Best Grab-and-Go Food.
Voting for the awards is open now through Monday, October 6 at 11:59 a.m. According to contest rules, voters can cast one ballot per person, per category, per day on the USA Today 10Best website. Results will be announced after the competition closes.
DTW, one of the busiest airports in the Midwest, serves more than 30 million passengers annually. The airport features nearly 100 dining and shopping options across its McNamara and Evans terminals. Officials say the nominations highlight DTW’s customer service and the wide range of amenities available to travelers.
Leo’s Coney Island, a Detroit-based chain known for its coney dogs and diner-style meals, is a familiar stop for local residents and visitors. Its nomination recognizes the presence of a longstanding Detroit brand within the airport’s food offerings.
The 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards are determined by public vote following selections made by a panel of travel experts. Airports from across the country are included in the competition. DTW’s nominations place it in direct comparison with other large U.S. airports on the basis of facilities, dining, and retail options.
Voting remains open daily until the October deadline, giving Detroit travelers and residents an opportunity to support their local airport and its vendors in the national contest.
