Detroit Cristo Rey High School moves fundraiser to Eastern Market

GemFeaturing the food, music and products that made Detroit famous
For the past six years, Detroit Cristo Rey High School has hosted their signature Spring Gala, the Garden Party, on their school campus. They have been wonderful events – filled with friends, students, refreshments and music. However, they have outgrown the beautiful little courtyard. Detroit Cristo Rey is proud to announce that this year their Spring Gala will move to Eastern Market.
Detroit Cristo Rey proudly presents “Gems of Detroit” on Friday evening, May 8th from 7 – 10 pm at the newly remodeled Shed 5. “Gems of Detroit” will feature the food, music and products that make Detroit great. The proceeds will directly benefit the greatest gems of Detroit – their students. They are thrilled that for the second year in a row, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles will be the Title Sponsor.
Gems of Detroit will feature fare from over a dozen of Detroit’s best restaurants including Traffic Jam and Snug, El Rancho, Green Dot Stables, Johnny Noodle King, Detroit Institute of Bagels and Detroit 75 Kitchen among others.
Guests will enjoy Detroit flavored music from Streetcorner and at least one recording great from Motown is planning to make a surprise appearance. A silent auction with great gifts, including a Disney vacation, private wine tasting parties, a weekend stay at the Book Westin Cadillac and one of the newest products from Polaris will be available for the guests. Most importantly, party goers will have the chance to speak with Detroit Cristo Rey students about their high school experience and their plans for college and beyond.
All proceeds raised at Gems of Detroit will support the 282 students enrolled at Detroit Cristo Rey.
“We are very excited about moving the event to Shed 5 at Eastern Market,” said Michael Khoury, President, Detroit Cristo Rey High School. “We invite everyone to join us on May 8. I know everyone will enjoy the food and music, but they are in for a real treat when they meet our students.”
“We are delighted with the restaurants that have agreed to participate and grateful to our sponsors, especially Fiat Chrysler Automobiles,” Khoury said.
Tickets for the event are $100 per person. Attire is snappy casual. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.detroitcristorey.org or calling Naomi Howrani at 313-402-0081.
