Detroit City Council Has A New President

According to reports by Fox 2 news Detroit’s City Council has a new Council President:
Former President Saunteel Jenkins and Brenda Jones went head to head this morning for the city council’s top spot. In the end the Detroit City Council elected Councilwoman Brenda Jones its next president. Jones unseated past president Saunteel Jenkins by a 5-4 vote.
Detroit’s charter says council members vote during the first meeting of the new council session on who will serve as council president and president pro-tem. Each serves four-year terms in those positions.
