Detroit Branch NAACP to Host Affordable Care Act Education and Enrollment Fair

DETROIT — The Detroit Branch NAACP will host an Affordable Care Act (ACA) Education and Enrollment Fair on Tuesday. February 18, 2014 from 6:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Fellowship Chapel located at 7707 W. Outer Drive in Detroit.  The fair will begin with a live broadcast by Radio One Detroit’s Mildred Gaddis.  During the fair there will be an opportunity to speak to enrollment specialists, ask questions regarding current health care issues.  Health care consultants will be available to sign up individuals for the Affordable Health Care program.   Additionally there will be a health fair providing free health screenings, a panel discussion and workshops to provide the community with information on the ACA, Medicaid expansion in Michigan and  a financial literacy workshop to answer questions on the tax implications of the ACA.
“The Detroit Branch NAACP is committed to providing access and opportunities to make sure all are able to get questions answered and sign up for the Affordable Care Act,” said Rev. Dr. Wendell Anthony, President, Detroit Branch NAACP.  “We know that access to quality, affordable health care will be a benefit to all in our community.
The Affordable Care Act Education and Enrollment Fair is done in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, ACCESS, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Detroit Medical Center, James E. Wadsworth Jr. Community Center, LA SED, Radio One, Real Times Media and United Way of Southeastern Michigan.   The event is free and open to the public.  Those who will come to enroll in a health care plan should bring the following documents:
