
The Detroit Branch NAACP recognized Leon Richardson, president and CEO, ChemicoMays, LLC for serving as the general co-chair for the 58th Annual Fight For Freedom Fund Dinner. Accepting the award on Mr. Richardson’s behalf was LaRoy Williams.
The Detroit Branch NAACP held its kickoff for the 59th Annual Fight For Freedom Fund Dinner on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the Roostertail.
The event was held to recognize and thank the dinner chairs from the 58th Annual Fight For Freedom Fund Dinner and introduce the theme and dinner chairs for the 59th Annual Fight For Freedom Fund Dinner.
Comerica Bank was announced as the general chair for the 59th Annual Fight For Freedom Fund Dinner. The theme is “1964 -2014…50 Years Later — One Man’s Commitment…One Nation’s Promise”
The theme encompasses several major events that happened in 1964 — the jailing of Nelson Mandela in South Africa because of his commitment to freedom, justice and equality, the signing of the Civil Rights Act by President Lyndon B. Johnson, and the launch of the War on Poverty. It also reflects the promise of American Democracy in the election of President Barack Obama.
The 59th Annual Fight For Freedom Fund Dinner will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Cobo Conference Center.
