Crews are continuing around-the-clock efforts to restore electrical service after severe storms over two days knocked out power for over 800,000 Michigan homes and businesses.
Detroit-based DTE Energy says about 250,000 of its roughly 600,000 customers affected by storms that moved across the state Friday and Saturday remained without power Monday morning. The storms came amid dangerously hot weather that eased over the weekend. Crews from as far away as Georgia and New York were called in.
DTE expects power to be fully restored by the end of Wednesday.
Jackson, Michigan-based Consumers Energy says about 46,000 of its roughly 220,000 affected customers still were without power Monday morning. Consumers Energy says the majority of its affected customers are expected to have power back by the end of the day Tuesday.
