
This annual event is presented by the Commission for Culture, Arts, and Heritage, members of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Sub-Committee, and Canton Township. The mission of the committee is to celebrate the legacy of Dr. King through education, inspiration and entertainment.
This year the keynote speaker will be Alexander Jefferson, Lt. Col. (Ret) of the Tuskegee Airman, Detroit Chapter. Lt. Col. Alexander Jefferson (born November 15, 1921 in Detroit, Michigan), a retired US Air Force officer, famous as one of the Tuskegee Airmen, the332nd Fighter Group. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. His book, Red Tail Captured, Red Tail Free: Memoirs of a Tuskegee Airman and POW, is a personal memoir of those who served America in World War II and after.
A reception will begin at 5:30pm and is sponsored by Darian & Ralynda Moore of Keller Williams Realty of Plymouth, MI. Guests can enjoy displays of community youth artworks and essays during the event..
