Children’s Hospital of Michigan (CHM) has announced the appointment of Archie Drake as its Chief Executive Officer, effective from Monday, March 27. Drake has been serving as the Interim CEO at CHM since December of the previous year. He joined the hospital from Tenet’s Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas, where he held the position of Chief Operating Officer.
Brittany Lavis, CEO of the Detroit Medical Center, has hailed Drake as a great addition to the CHM leadership team, citing his visionary approach to improving staff, physician, and patient engagement, as well as his commitment to operational excellence. Lavis also noted that Drake’s leadership successes have been built on a solid foundation of business acumen, clinical and operational expertise, and creativity.
With extensive experience in hospital operations, strategic service line planning, and patient care services, Drake brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role. He earned an undergraduate degree in nursing at the University of Texas-Arlington and an MBA from Amberton University in Garland, Texas.
As the new CEO of CHM, Drake will be responsible for leading the hospital in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care, while also ensuring that the hospital remains financially stable and able to meet the evolving needs of the community it serves. His appointment is expected to usher in a new era of growth and innovation at CHM, as the hospital continues to build on its reputation as a leading provider of pediatric care in the region.
