Mortuaries overflowed with bodies Sunday At least 160 people were killed last week from a church collapse in southern Nigeria.
Parishioners were inside the Reigners Bible Church International in the city of Uyo for the consecration of founder Akan Weeks when the roof collapsed.
“There were trapped bodies, parts of bodies, blood all over the place and people’s handbags and shoes scattered,” said computer analyst Ukeme Eyibio.
Officials fear the death toll will rise.
Akwa Ibom state Gov. Udom Emmanuel Weeks were among the survivors.
University of Uyo Teaching Hospital medical director Etete Peters said mortuaries are overflowing with the bodies of those killed.
